Electric vehicles: Free access to the toll bridge from 1 January 2016

As part of its action plan in transportation electrification, the Quebec government has announced a series of measures, including allowing electric vehicles, under certain conditions, to use the Highway 25 bridge without being subject to tolls. .

 

As of January 1, 2016, vehicles meeting the conditions of the program will be able to use the Highway 25 bridge without being subject to the toll rate.

 

Conditions apply:

Vehicles must be holder of a green plate

Vehicles will need to register and be equipped with a transponder

 

How to register and benefit from the program:

Go to the Concession A25 office in Laval with the vehicle with a green plate at the Concession A25 office to register and receive his transponder.

Fill out the on-site registration form and accept the terms of use.

Install the transponder in the vehicle.

 

 

Start date of the program:

 

The “free” toll will begin only after registration with Concession A25. Customers wishing to register must do so by showing up at the Concession A25 office from Monday, January 4, 2016 (*).

 

(*) As the program starts on January 1, 2016, eligible program participants who made transitions between January 1 and January 4, 2016 will receive credits for these passes.

 

 

Eligible vehicles:

 

For the purposes of the Pilot Project, an “electric vehicle”, as defined in the Highway Safety Code, means a passenger vehicle, bus or commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 4,500 kg. to one of the following categories:

 

(1) all-electric vehicles being equipped with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery from the electrical network;

 

(2) extended-range electric vehicles being equipped with an electric motor, a rechargeable electric battery from the power grid and a gasoline generator producing electricity;

 

(3) hybrid vehicles that can be recharged from the power grid being equipped with an electric motor and a gasoline engine operating in combination, depending on the speed and acceleration of the vehicle.

 

The electric vehicle referred to in the first paragraph must have a number plate with green lettering and the pictogram for electric vehicles in the lower left corner.

 

 

Precision

This program does not apply where a road vehicle is already exempt from the amount of a toll under a regulation made by the Government under the second paragraph of section 11 of the Act respecting partnerships transport infrastructure.
